How it
Works
Though it’s true that our
Individualized Writing Courses
are carried out via e-mail, it is not
the case that our students and teachers are simply e-mailing one
another, back and forth, from their own personal e-mail addresses!
On the contrary, we make use of a highly complex computer system
which 1) preserves your privacy, 2) creates a perfect record-keeping
system, and 3) allows parents and students to get quick answers to their
questions when their writing consultant may be unavailable.
When students enroll in our program,
they are assigned a special “client code” which allows our system to
identify who they are. Using
that code, students can switch from one e-mail address to another without
ever having to notify us of the change: as long as the student knows his
code, the system will recognize who he or she is, and will make sure the
mail gets sent to his or her writing consultant.
Likewise, the client
code allows our system to catalog all the mail that the student (or
parent, as is often the case) and writing consultant exchange.
So, when you send a piece of mail to
your writing consultant, the mail doesn’t actually go to your writing
consultant -- it goes first to our office system, where it is screened
(for personal contact information such as physical addresses and phone
numbers, which are removed) and archived.
Additionally, your e-mail address is removed, so that the only
thing left to identify you is your client code and your name.
The system therefore protects your personal contact information to
such a degree that your writing consultant has no way to contact you
except through our office system. Similarly,
you won’t have any way of knowing your writing consultant’s personal
contact information.
In addition to having our computer
system archive all the mail, we also have a person sitting in front of the
system all day (and through a significant portion of the night) to answer student and parent questions.
The result is that if you lose a piece of mail, or if you need a
copy of a message you sent to your writing consultant (or one that he or
she sent to you!), you can simply e-mail our office at office@writeguide.com
to explain your situation, and someone will help you out right away.
