1. Our teachers are the
most qualified teachers you'll ever find.
All our teachers hold bachelors degrees and masters degrees in a field related to
English, have years and years of teaching experience, and, are published writers.
All of them are Christians.
2. The course meets daily.
Students enrolled in our courses work with their writing
teachers every day, Monday through Friday. The course is, however,
self-paced, so if a student is unable to send his work to his teacher on a
certain day, that's OK!
3. The instruction is 100%
individualized.
Our
teachers don't use "canned" lessons. Instead, they guide students
through each and every step of the paper or project. The instruction
is generated by the teachers spontaneously, every day, based on the
student's precise needs at that particular time.
4. Parents choose the
papers.
Most writing
courses provide you with a syllabus or list of assignments. Our
course allows parents to tell their children's teachers what sorts of
papers and assignments to teach. And we don't ask you to choose from
a list of options (though we do have a list of potential
projects, if you'd like to see some ideas), either. As a parent, you
control the content of the course. Or, if you prefer, you can "hand
over the reins" to the teacher, and let him or decide what should be
taught.
5. The course takes place
through regular e-mail.
We believe that the best teaching is delivered simply, and so we
don't make use of any fancy downloads or software programs. If you
can access your e-mail account, you can take part in our courses.
6. You can start our
courses at any time.
Our courses can be scheduled to start on any day, Monday
through Friday, year round. All we need is 48 hour's notice.
7. Parents are invited to
communicate with their children's teacher on a daily basis.
Because we believe strongly
that parents are their children's most important educators, we view our
courses as a partnership between two teachers: an ultra-qualified writing
teacher, and you, an ultra-qualified parent who has chosen to take command
of your child's education. You have information and
insights that are beyond value in terms of teaching your child, and so
it's standard for parents to communicate with their children's writing
teacher whenever you wish. You don't have to communicate with the
teacher every day, but you definitely can!
8. You choose the length of
the course.
The course comes in lengths of one, three, four, nine, and
twelve months. You can sign up for as much or as little time as you
need. If you enroll in a one month course to give it a try, you can
always sign up for another session when the first month is complete.
You can also request to stay with the same teacher.
9. Siblings can share the
same course.
Although our courses were designed to provide instruction
for a single student, siblings are welcome to "share" a single course.
The only stipulation is that they take turns writing to their teacher.
In other words, only one of them can submit a paper or a project at a
time, and must wait for the teacher's reply before anyone can send a new
paper.
10. Experience.
We were established in May of 1997. Since that time
we've served thousands upon thousands of homeschool families. We
also work with Christian schools, state charter schools, and
independent-study school districts. When you choose us, you're
choosing experience.
